India: 23 Arrested In Manipur After Recent Violence | Subscribe to Firstpost
The scenario in northeastern Indian state of Manipur stays tense after the police arrested 23 people for ransacking and setting hearth to the properties of lawmakers and ministers within the capital, Imphal. The unrest broke out on November 16 after the invention of six our bodies in Jiribham, believed to belong to members of the Meitei neighborhood who had been reportedly kidnapped. Protesters are demanding accountability for the violence and justice for the victims. In the meantime, the Nationwide Folks’s Social gathering (NPP) an ally of the ruling BJP within the state, exited the governing alliance over purported inaction from Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s authorities amid prevailing ethnic tensions within the state.
