Hundreds of protesters rallied to demand the discharge of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, clashing with police as they marched into Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. Over 20,000 officers armed with shields and batons have been deployed, whereas the federal government shut down cellular web, citing “safety considerations.” Tear gasoline and rubber bullets have been fired as protesters eliminated roadblocks meant to cease convoys from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. Islamabad imposed a two-month ban on public gatherings and closed colleges and universities for 2 days. Inside Minister Mohsin Naqvi warned that anybody making an attempt to occupy D-Chowk, a key protest website, can be arrested.
