The federal government is shutting down analysis programmes and blocking work on an unlimited array of subjects, from climate to COVID-19. It has fired thousands of federal employees, including scientists, and has sought to exert control over universities. The president and the heads of varied science companies have promised that many extra modifications are coming, together with sharp reductions in analysis funding and additional lay-offs at federal companies. In some circumstances, officers have recommended that authorities funds can be reinvested in sure areas of science.
