BENTOTA, Sri Lanka — As soon as dwelling to the late Geoffrey Bawa, Sri Lanka’s most celebrated architect, the small coastal city of Bentota, 86 kilometers south of Colombo, is now one of many island’s high artwork and design locations.
Climbing the doorway stairs on the Cinnamon Seashore Bentota, a lodge designed by Bawa and opened in 1967 as a part of a tourism improvement venture, I understand instantly that that is no bizarre lodge constructing. The reception space is embellished by a hanging ceiling containing greater than 150 material panels showcasing Sri Lanka’s fauna and flora, together with dancing peacocks and leopards resting on treetops.
