Tama Lundon, a member of New Zealand reggae group Herbs, has died.
Former Herbs member Toni Fonoti introduced Lundon’s dying on Fb on Wednesday, describing his former bandmate as an “wonderful, humble particular person and genius musician”.
Lundon was the unique keyboard participant for the band, which was inducted into the New Zealand Music Corridor of Fame in 2012.
Fonoti stated he met Lundon within the late Seventies at a bar in Auckland’s Onehunga the place he was taking part in.
“I requested him to affix Herbs however he was pleased the place he was. Now 40 years later, Tama and Dilworth Karaka and all the opposite members have gone on to depart an incredible musical legacy,“ stated Fonoti.
“God bless all of the members of Herbs, previous and current. Not many people left now.”
Fonoti stated he hoped Lundon was “jammin’ together with his brothers” – former members Charlie Tumahai, Fred Faleauto, Tama Renata, Thom Nepia, Carl Perkins and Willie Hona – in heaven.
“Simply need to say thanks for having performed with youse,” stated Fonoti.
The founding members of Herbs have been Dilworth Karaka, Spencer Fuisimalohi, Fred Faleauto, Phil Toms, and Fonoti.
Tama Lundon joined Herbs in 1983, contributing to albums comparable to Delicate to a Smile and Homegrown, and was a part of collaborations with artists comparable to Dave Dobbyn on Slice of Heaven, Tim Finn on Parihaka, and Annie Crummer on See What Love Can Do.
