Welsh Labour politician Hefin David has died out of the blue, aged 47.
Mr David had been Member of the Senedd (MS) for Caerphilly since 2016.
Paying tribute, First Minister and Welsh Labour chief Eluned Morgan referred to as him an “excellent politician” who could be “significantly missed”.
Gwent Police stated a 47-year-old man was discovered unresponsive at a property in Nelson, Caerphilly county, on Tuesday night, and the dying was not being handled as suspicious.
His companion was Cynon Valley MS Vikki Howells, the minister for additional and better training within the Welsh Labour authorities.
The primary minister stated: “We’re extraordinarily saddened by the sudden dying of Hefin. Our ideas are together with his household at this horrible time.
“Hefin was a much-loved member of the Labour household. He served Caerphilly as a councillor and a Member of the Senedd with pleasure and fervour.
“He was an impressive politician, heat and enthusiastic and a fantastic communicator – particularly on behalf of his constituents.
“He shall be significantly missed.”
Mark Hobrough, Gwent Police chief constable, stated his “ideas and heartfelt condolences” are with Mr David’s household, associates and colleagues.
“After I joined Gwent Police because the chief superintendent for the world masking Caerphilly, I labored carefully with Hefin on many events and I discovered him to be an attractive and considerate particular person.
“A devoted public servant to Caerphilly, his dedication to our communities shall be a big loss.”
Elected to Cardiff Bay in 2016, Mr David was one of many extra distinguished Labour backbench members and was by no means afraid to go towards the occasion line.
