
A 15-year-old woman has been raped by a masked man who led her from a bus cease in Edinburgh metropolis centre within the early hours of the morning.
The woman was approached on Princes Road, outdoors Marks and Spencer, at about 05:00 on Sunday.
The person, sporting a black hoodie and balaclava, took her on foot to York Place the place he attacked her in a basement storage space.
Police Scotland stated it was a “scary incident” for the woman and specialist officers had been supporting her and her household.
Det Insp Mhairi Cooper stated the assault occurred in daylight in a busy industrial space and urged any witnesses to return ahead.
“CCTV from the New City space is being gathered and checked,” she stated.
“I might ask anybody with non-public techniques to verify these and submit something of relevance to us as quickly as doable.”

Police stated the attacker is described as a white man with blonde stubble who spoke with a Scottish accent.
He was sporting a black hoodie with a zipper, khaki trousers and Nike trainers, and the black balaclava.
Police inquiries have established the person led the woman onto South St David Road, round St Andrew Sq., onto Queen Road, then to York Place.
After the assault, he left in the direction of Dublin Road.
Police Scotland stated door-to-door inquiries had been persevering with.
