On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 8pm, the Auditorio Felipe VI will resonate with the world premiere of Estepona, la Ciudad de las Flores, a sinfonietta composed by Hugo Chinesta, winner of the IV Worldwide Composition Contest for Symphonic Band, ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol.’
Carried out by Chinesta himself, the piece can be carried out by the Estepona Municipal Band in a free live performance, with invites free to choose up from March 10 on the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel.
The work, a four-movement sinfonietta titled Laberinto de Flores, el Palacio de las Orquídeas, la Flor Cadáver and la Plaza de las Flores, captures Estepona’s vibrant essence by its floral landscapes and cultural heritage. Chinesta, a famend Valencian composer and director, who received the €10,000 prize in a contest launched by Estepona Council in an effort to enrich the city’s musical repertoire.
The occasion marks the fourth 12 months of the competition, began in 2020 to rejoice the eightieth anniversary of the Estepona Municipal Band. Earlier successful compositions, together with works by Álvaro López Cámara and Ferrer Ferran, have already enriched the band’s assortment. The live performance may even characteristic Chinesta’s different works, equivalent to Bona Gent and Coliseum, promising an evening of musical splendour.
Everyone seems to be invited to expertise this, a celebration of Estepona’s distinctive id, mixing custom with unique artistry, in a venue famed for its acoustic excellence.
