Some European Union sanctions on Syria can be lifted as a part of a broader EU transfer to assist stabilise Damascus after the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad in December, France’s overseas minister says.
EU overseas ministers mentioned the matter at a gathering in Brussels on Monday.
“Concerning Syria, we’re going to determine at present to carry, to droop, sure sanctions that had utilized to the vitality and transport sectors and to monetary establishments that had been key to the monetary stabilisation of the nation,” French Overseas Minister Jean-Noel Barrot mentioned on arrival on the assembly in Brussels.
