THE authorities of Andalucia has despatched cell phone alerts to hundreds of locals after an earthquake struck this morning.
The quake had a magnitude of 4.1 and its epicentre was within the city of Cazalla de la Sierra in Sevilla, based on the Nationwide Geographic Institute (IGN).
Tremors have been felt in nearly 200 cities throughout the provinces of Sevilla, Huelva, Cordoba and Badajoz.
The IGN stated the quake struck at round 3.29am on Thursday, at a depth of 10km.
The mayor of Cazalla de la Sierra, Adrian Torres, claimed the earthquake ‘has been felt fairly a bit’ within the city.
He stated the shaking was noticeable for ‘round 10 to 12 seconds’, which ‘terrified’ locals, claiming some noticed their ‘furnishings transferring’.
He informed Canal Sur radio that there have been no stories of fabric or private damagae to this point.
The mayor added that the occasion solely occurs ‘as soon as each few a long time as a result of this isn’t an space with important and steady seismic exercise.’
It comes after a magnitude-five earthquake in Lisbon on February 17 was felt in cities in southern Spain, together with Sevilla.
And on February 10, a 4.9-magnitude quake was recorded in Morocco and was additionally felt in components of Andalucia.
