To the editor: I applaud political scientist Seth Masket’s insightful evaluation of the election. It ought to be required studying by all who wish to carry our nation again from the brink of destruction. (“Democrats are finger-pointing. Does the evidence support them?” Nov. 17)
However in downplaying the function that gender performed in voters’ evaluation of Vice President Kamala Harris, Masket ignored one compelling consideration: Her perceived suitability to function the nation’s commander in chief.
It’s not simply that Harris lacked navy expertise. With wars raging in Ukraine and the Center East — and with saber-rattling by China and North Korea on the rise — I consider many citizens shuddered on the prospect of getting a militarily inexperienced lady information U. S. armed forces in time of battle.
President-elect Donald Trump absolutely sensed that he might exploit residual misogyny because the wars in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip continued.

To the editor: For the reason that election, The Instances has been publishing articles relating to the explanations for Harris’ loss to Trump. Some blame the Democrats’ messaging to voters, however they keep away from an important purpose.
Most likely half of those that voted for Trump didn’t truly vote for him as a lot as they voted in opposition to Harris and the Democratic administration. Had the Biden administration finished an excellent job of governing, Trump wouldn’t have gained. However the administration didn’t.
From overseeing a border disaster (whereas mendacity to the American folks about it) to the badly flawed withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Biden administration did not ship, and it has been punished for this.

To the editor: A substantial amount of verifiable, factual info on the elections reveals that the race between Trump and Harris was shut. But headlines make it sound as if the Democrats misplaced in an enormous landslide.
Please cease framing this election as if the Democrats misplaced by double digits. There isn’t any large consensus that authoritarianism is an efficient factor.

To the editor: It seems that many citizens wore rose-colored glasses about Trump’s first time period. For them, he was the higher selection on the competence challenge.
But when he was confronted with one really large disaster — the COVID-19 pandemic — his efficiency was clownish. Assume ingesting disinfectant. The nation would have suffered financial disaster with out federal intervention.
For a few years, the Democrats’ messaging has been completely insufficient in opposition to the perfect propagandists for the reason that Bolsheviks.
