For Koreans, June is a month to honor those that fought for the nation’s freedom. The month options varied ceremonies, patriotic occasions and historic TV packages emphasizing nationwide protection. Memorial Day on June 6 is a public vacation devoted to remembering fallen heroes. On June 25, Korean Struggle Day commemorates the day when North Korean forces crossed the thirty eighth parallel in 1950, initiating the Korean Struggle. At the present time honors Korean Struggle heroes, acknowledges the contributions of UN forces and the significance of the ROK-U.S. alliance. Many Koreans go to the Nationwide Cemetery and the Struggle Memorial of Korea in Seoul in addition to the U.N. Peace Memorial in Busan throughout this month.
