    A care house has been ordered to pay greater than £200,000 after two wheelchair customers drowned and a 3rd was significantly harm when a leaking boat capsized throughout a day journey.

    Exeter Magistrates’ Courtroom heard Burdon Grange Care Dwelling, close to Beaworthy in Devon, failed to hold out primary security checks earlier than taking six residents to Roadford Lake, close to Launceston, Cornwall, in June 2022.

    His father Peter mentioned the household was “deeply troubled and harm that his dying might have been averted”.

    The Marine Accident Investigation Department later found the boat had not been properly maintained, permitting water to leak in and destabilise it.

    Burdon Grange Care Dwelling Ltd admitted three prices of failing to supply protected care underneath well being and social care legal guidelines.

    It was fined £180,000, with £20,000 prices and a £190 sufferer surcharge.
