Democrats have cemented their management of the US Senate by successful a bitterly fought seat in Georgia, based on projections.
Raphael Warnock fended off Republican challenger Herschel Walker in a run-off vote, after neither candidate secured 50% of the vote in final month’s midterm elections.
The end result implies that President Joe Biden’s celebration now holds the higher chamber of Congress by 51-49, and for Warnock, he declared that “the folks have spoken”, in his victory speech.
In the meantime, it comes as a blow to by former President Donald Trump, who endorsed American soccer legend and political newcomer Walker as a candidate.
