To the editor: The hand-wringing over comparisons between Los Angeles and Paris as Olympic host cities is as foolish as evaluating pommes and oranges.
As a younger metropolis, we don’t have the traditional architectural heritage of Paris, however few locations on Earth rival our pure magnificence. The splendor of our environs and its “golden gentle” ignited the movie business, and that flame will serve nicely the broadcasting of the Summer time Olympics to a world already attuned to our cinematic language.
Moreover, the variety of our inhabitants fosters a singular and welcoming tradition to embrace each athletes and viewers.
“Metropolis of Gold,” the 2015 documentary about L.A. by the eyes of Pulitzer Prize-winning meals critic Jonathan Gold, showcases our metropolis as a treasure chest of worldwide delicacies. Los Angeles is the right host to the world, “golden” in so some ways.
