To the editor: I served as a metropolis councilmember in West Hollywood for a few years. It was at all times my mantra that the general public would assist advocacy on the big-picture points so long as I took care of the essential service points that affected their each day lives — on their avenue and of their neighborhood. (“How governable is Los Angeles?” Opinion, Jan. 22)
If the streets in your neighborhood are poorly maintained, if emergency companies are gradual to reply, and if parks and public areas are soiled and unsafe, then the general public received’t admire or assist specializing in main state and nationwide points comparable to local weather change. In the event that they suppose you’re taking good care of the enterprise that the majority immediately impacts them, they’ll permit a bit of extra latitude.
