Brazilian authorities have stated that no less than 9 folks have been killed throughout a police raid within the metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, the newest case of violence stemming from regulation enforcement exercise within the metropolis’s poor favela neighbourhoods.
Police stated that Wednesday’s operation was centered on focusing on legal gangs within the Complexo da Penha, a community of favelas within the north of the town.
“A conflict occurred when police groups got here beneath assault by gunmen on the scene,” the police stated in an announcement. The operation was launched after police obtained details about a gathering of high-level gang leaders.
Eleven suspects have been wounded within the assault, and 9 died of their accidents. One officer was taken to the hospital and is in steady situation.
