Many of the 50 or so properties in Benamargosa (inhabitants 1,500) that had been affected by the November 13 storms are again to regular.
All these residents dwelling close to the River Amargosa, whose waters had risen two metres throughout the Dana, felt the affect of the flooding.
They included Amargosa’s mayor Salvador Arcas, whose home was flooded and who noticed his automotive swept away.
A restaurant and a bar are nonetheless being rebuilt, as they had been closest to the River Amargosa, though the grocery store, which was completely flooded, had now reopened, Arcas stated. He admitted that there was nonetheless quite a lot of work to be performed within the surrounding countryside the place the storms had wreaked havoc and prompted “incalculable injury.”
Restoring infrastructure together with the park, soccer pitch and swimming pool would price round €2 million, in line with the municipal architect, the mayor added.
In the meantime the city corridor has requested official assist and forwarded the payments for its cleanup and rebuilding operation to the central authorities, the Junta de Andalucia and the Diputacion provincial council.
