EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has the set occasions for the first-ever Belly Laughs Comedy and Food Festival, happening downtown at L.A. Stay this weekend.
Offered by companions CAPE, Nederlander Live shows, L.A. Stay, Gold Home, and MAMA’s Nightmarket, the Stomach Laughs competition is billed as a celebration of Asian-American tradition that honors how they combine, affect, and encourage each other to create one thing solely new: a singular Third Tradition. From July 12-13, attendees will be capable of see 30 comedians and eat at 20+ meals and beverage distributors curated by MAMA’s Nightmarket.
Artists performing embody Nimesh Patel, Jonnie Park (aka Dumbfoundead), Zarna Garg, Kumail Nanjiani, Joel Kim Booster, Margaret Cho, Bobby Lee, and Hasan Minhaj, to call just some.
In a joint assertion alongside CAPE volunteer and competition producer Viv Wang, CAPE’s CEO and Govt Director Michelle Sugihara defined of the fest’s origins, “We wished to rejoice how the Asian American group not solely contributes to our tradition, however how the immigrant expertise is within the DNA of the American story. We hope that everybody comes out this weekend for large laughs and nice meals in downtown Los Angeles so we are able to proceed to write down this subsequent chapter collectively.”
