Tens of hundreds of opposition supporters in Bangladesh have gathered within the capital Dhaka for a rally demanding the federal government step down.
Safety within the metropolis is tight and many individuals are staying off the streets.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Celebration, referred to as the BNP, has accused the federal government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of ruining the financial system and stifling democracy.
However Bangladesh’s authorities has denied it’s cracking down on freedom of expression.
In an interview with the BBC, the nation’s International Minister Abdul Momen dismissed options his authorities was stifling free speech, stressing that his nation, shaped in 1971 after a warfare with Pakistan, was based “to uphold democracy, human rights, and justice”.
