Azerbaijan says it has launched “anti-terrorist operations” within the Nagorno-Karabakh area and demanded the “full withdrawal” of ethnic Armenian forces as a situation for peace within the disputed territory.
Armenia’s international ministry urged Russian peacekeeping troops there to intervene and cease Azerbaijan’s “full-scale aggression” in opposition to the native inhabitants.
Azerbaijan stated it opened humanitarian routes for non-combatants.
The offensive comes practically three years after Baku fought a short however lethal warfare with Armenian forces over the mountainous space. The ex-Soviet Caucasus rivals have been locked in a decades-long dispute with large-scale hostilities breaking out within the Nineteen Nineties and in 2020.
