March 30, 2025 (Lemon Grove) – The Lemon Grove Historic Society’s “Historical past Alive” lecture sequence continues this Thursday, April 3 at 7 p.m. with native writer Sandra Bonura talking about her new guide, Empire Constructing: John D. Spreckels and the Making of San Diego.
The occasion will likely be held on the H. Lee Home in Treganza Park, 3205 Olive St., Lemon Grove.
Sugar mogul, newspaper writer and railroad baron, Spreckels was on the forefront of innovation and constructing San Diego. Within the early 20th century, one in 15 San Diegans labored for an organization owned by Spreckels.
