Hawaii is battling wildfires spurred by winds from Hurricane Dora – prompting evacuations on Maui and the Massive Island.
Mayor Richard Bissen has confirmed six fatalities in Maui county and warned numbers might rise.
The US Coast Guard says it rescued 12 folks, after reviews of residents escaping a blaze by leaping into the ocean close to the city of Lahaina, on Maui.
The Federal Emergency Administration Company (Fema) has authorised using federal funds in Hawaii to assist folks affected by fires.
