Jupiter already reigns as king of the planets — it’s the most important one in our photo voltaic system. And now, the fuel large has probably the most identified moons, too.
Astronomers have noticed 12 further moons orbiting Jupiter, bringing its complete variety of confirmed moons to 92.
The invention was made throughout observations by astronomer Scott Sheppard of the Carnegie Establishment for Science and his workforce. They used the Subaru Telescope in Hawaii in September 2021 and the Darkish Power Digital camera positioned on the Blanco telescope on the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile in August 2022. The Darkish Power Digital camera can survey the sky for faint objects.
Jupiter and its pure satellites have been in alignment with extra distant targets that Sheppard and his workforce have been searching for within the Kuiper Belt, a hoop of icy objects circling the solar that’s positioned previous the orbit of Neptune on the sting of the photo voltaic system. #cnnnewsroom #Information #FredrickaWhitefield
