Al Jazeera has strongly rejected a declare by the Israeli navy that six of its journalists primarily based in Gaza are members of the Palestinian teams Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).
The media community on Wednesday vehemently condemned the “unfounded allegations” by the Israeli military, which in a submit on X described among the named Al Jazeera Arabic correspondents as “operatives” working for Hamas’s armed wing to advertise the group’s “propaganda” within the besieged and bombarded enclave.
The six named journalists are Anas al-Sharif, Talal Aruki, Alaa Salama, Hossam Shabat, Ismail Farid and Ashraf Saraj.
The Committee to Defend Journalists (CPJ) mentioned on X that Israel had “repeatedly made related unproven claims with out producing credible proof”.
The press freedom watchdog famous that the Israeli navy had “produced an analogous doc” after killing Al Jazeera Arabic journalist Ismail al-Ghoul in July, containing “contradictory info displaying that [al-Ghoul], born in 1997, obtained a Hamas navy rating in 2007 – when he would have been 10 years outdated”.
