    NEW DELHI: The All India College students’ Affiliation (AISA) on Friday welcomed the excessive court docket’s intervention on the bond cash requirement for Delhi College polls, calling it a “large victory for campus democracy and inclusiveness”.

    Earlier within the day, the Delhi High Court disposed of a petition — filed by AISA activists Anjali and Abhishek Kumar — difficult a DU notification that appeared to mandate a Rs 1 lakh bond for Delhi College College students’ Union (DUSU) elections and Rs 25,000 for college-level polls.

    The petitioners had argued that such a provision amounted to “financial discrimination” that will exclude college students from humble backgrounds, particularly ladies, from contesting.

    “It’s a large victory for the spirit of campus democracy and pupil unions. The Delhi Excessive Courtroom, after the petition filed by AISA activists Anjali and Abhishek, has issued an order towards the availability of accumulating Rs 1 lakh bond from candidates submitting for nominations in DUSU and college elections,” the organisation stated.

    The assertion added that the college administration had been “adamant” on financial restrictions, however the court docket upheld constitutional ideas and ordered that the bond get replaced with an anti-defacement affidavit.
