Tributes have been paid around the globe to Mikhail Gorbachev, the final chief of the Soviet Union who has died aged 91.
Mr Gorbachev’s interval in energy noticed reforms of the Communist bloc that led to the autumn of the Berlin Wall, the tip of the Chilly Warfare and the eventual collapse of the USSR.
The financial chaos and hardship that adopted could clarify why the West’s admiration for Mr Gorbachev shouldn’t be extensively shared in his Russian homeland.
