Pope Leo XIV confirms the election of Fr Francesco as Custos of the Holy Land and Guardian of Mount Zion
Pope Leo XIV has confirmed the election — performed by the Minister Basic of the Order of Friars Minor collectively together with his Definitory — of the Most Reverend Father Francesco Ielpo, OFM, as Custos of the Holy Land and Guardian of Mount Zion.
The Minister Basic of the Franciscan Order, Friar Massimo Fusarelli, introduced the information in an official letter despatched to the friars of the Custody of the Holy Land.
Father Francesco Ielpo, OFM
Br Francesco Ielpo, an Italian nationwide, was born in Lauria (PZ) on Might 18, 1970. He professed his solemn vows in 1998 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2000. From 1994 to 2010, he served as a spiritual training instructor and, since 2000, as Rector of the Franciscanum Luzzago Institute in Brescia.
