NAHA, Jun 23 (News On Japan) –
Okinawa Prefecture noticed its annual Day of Remembrance on June twenty third, commemorating the greater than 200,000 Japanese and American lives misplaced within the Battle of Okinawa throughout the ultimate phases of the Pacific Conflict.

This yr marks the eightieth anniversary of the day acknowledged as the tip of organized fight by the previous Japanese army. A memorial ceremony pledging eternal peace was held on the Peace Memorial Park in Mabuni, Itoman Metropolis, the positioning of the final fierce battleground. Governor Tamaki and Prime Minister Ishiba attended the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of passing on the historical past and classes of the warfare to future generations.
