    ECONOMYNEXT – Stasshani Jayawardena, newly appointed chairperson of Sri Lanka’s Aitken Spence group has paid a tribute to her father’s position in increasing the group, which has pursuits in logistics, power, plantations and motels with operations within the Maldives, India and Oman.

    “Famend for his legendary work ethic and enterprise acumen, he led the Group with foresight and calculated risk-taking over the span of twenty-two years,” she instructed shareholders within the annual report.

    “From my earliest childhood, I used to be honoured to shadow this enterprise icon on his many website inspections, workforce discussions, and enterprise negotiations, which marked his journey as an entrepreneur. ”

    “With companies throughout a number of sectors, he actively helped shape Sri Lanka’s financial growth via infrastructure investments in key progress sectors.”

    Aitken Spence is an outdated established group which began in Sri Lanka in the course of the British colonial period by Scottish retailers Thomas Clark and Patrick Gordon Spence.

    “I step into the position of Chairperson with a profound respect for the 156-year legacy of the Group,” Chairperson Jayawardena stated.

    “I’m humbled and honoured by the belief positioned in me by the Nominations and Governance Committee, the Shareholders and the Board of Administrators, to be part of one thing actually distinctive – an organization with an ethos of constructing diamonds from the tough.

    “I step into this position with a transparent goal, armed with the various nuggets of knowledge imparted over time by the late Chairman and the Group Management.”

    On behalf of each Spensonian, I pay tribute to our late Chairman, Deshamanya D.H.S. Jayawardena, whose sagacity and visionary management had been instrumental in reworking Aitken Spence into the diversified conglomerate it’s at this time.

    Famend for his legendary work ethic and enterprise acumen, he led the Group with foresight and calculated risk-taking over the span of twenty-two years. From my earliest childhood, I used to be honoured to shadow this enterprise icon on his many website inspections, workforce discussions, and enterprise negotiations, which marked his journey as an entrepreneur.

    He guided Aitken Spence’s transformation from an organization based in Sri Lanka and Maldives to a multinational enterprise with operations in twelve nations, spanning from East Africa, Asia, Center East to the South Pacific.

    He was a believer in harnessing the transformative energy of expertise to drive greater productiveness and effectivity. He was an early champion of sustainability, setting in place the framework to combine environmental and social accountability into our company technique.

    With companies throughout a number of sectors, he actively helped shape Sri Lanka’s financial growth via infrastructure investments in key progress sectors.

    He leaves behind a permanent legacy of integrity, accountability and a dedication to the pursuit of excellence that can information Aitken Spence for generations to come back.

    My profession inside the Group, which started as an intern, led to my decade lengthy tenure as an Government Director, Joint Deputy Chairperson and Joint Managing Director, facilitating a seamless transition into my present place as Government Chairperson of Aitken Spence PLC
