Boosted by President-elect Donald Trump, Rep. Mike Johnson on Friday narrowly gained his first full two-year time period as speaker of the Home, beating again a tiny right-wing riot that finally caved.
Johnson, a Louisiana Republican and self-described “MAGA conservative,” secured the 218 votes he wanted to be re-elected speaker. The Democratic chief, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, obtained 215 votes. Ultimately, only one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., voted towards Johnson.
