Fugitive Offender Mehul Choksi Arrested in Belgium on India’s Extradition Request | N18G
Fugitive diamond dealer Mehul Choksi, wished for his involvement within the Punjab Nationwide Financial institution mortgage fraud case, has been arrested by Belgian authorities. The arrest was made on the request of Indian companies, together with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), after Mumbai courts issued non-bailable warrants towards him. Choksi was arrested on April 12 after Indian authorities intensified efforts to have him extradited. Each Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi fled India in January 2018. Stories counsel that Choksi was planning to maneuver to Switzerland for medical remedy when he was caught.
