Myanmar’s generals say they’ve pardoned greater than 2,000 political prisoners to mark Wesak, a significant Buddhist vacation.
The army mentioned 2,153 individuals jailed for “incitement” could be launched on “humanitarian grounds”, Myanmar Now reported on Wednesday, citing a press release signed by Army Council Secretary Lieutenant Common Aung Lin Dwe.
The Myanmar army has cracked down on its opponents with deadly drive and detained 1000’s of individuals since seizing energy from the elected authorities of Aung San Suu Kyi in a coup in February 2021.
