    Mumbai:

    The Mumbai police apprehended eight individuals on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Worldwide Airport whereas they have been being despatched to London illegally by posing as college students taking part in an change programme, an official stated.

    The accused, seven of them posing as college students of a Haryana-based personal college and one as a professor, have been charged with human trafficking, the official stated.

    They have been caught on the immigration checkpoint of the airport within the early hours of Monday, he stated.

    He stated the accused allegedly used cast paperwork and furnished false data to obtain visas to the UK.

    The accused have been travelling to London by way of Jeddah, the official stated, including that their agent had demanded Rs 20 lakh from every of them to facilitate their immigration illegally.

    Officers of the Bureau of Immigration initially discovered that two of them have been travelling to London on UK go to visas, he stated.

    The official stated that on questioning, the travellers stated they have been taking part in a pupil change programme by means of a non-public college in Hisar with their professor.

    Nevertheless, they have been unable to supply particulars concerning the college they have been heading to, they usually have been taken away for additional questioning, he stated.

    The official stated the accused, who posed as a professor, advised the authorities he was travelling with seven others to London on the Haryana varsity’s directions.

    He claimed that he met the travellers and an agent, recognized as Bittu, at a lodge in Delhi and was taking them to London on his directions.

    The travellers advised the immigration authorities that the agent promised to assist them immigrate to the UK and had demanded Rs 20 lakh from every of them, the official stated.

    The agent additionally allegedly procured visas for the travellers by submitting cast paperwork to the UK Embassy, he stated.

    He stated the eight accused have been handed over to the Sahar Police for additional motion.

    A case has been registered in opposition to the accused beneath part 143 (trafficking), 336(2) (forgery) and different related provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and Passport Act, the official stated.

    The crime department has taken over the probe, he stated.

    Earlier, the Mumbai Police had busted a human trafficking racket by arresting a person who had despatched over 80 individuals to Canada, Turkey, Netherlands and Poland on cast passports and visas.
