March 5 (UPI) — Photographs of a giraffe touring within the mattress of a pickup truck close to Detroit went viral on social media, and the animal turned out to be fairly actual — albeit deceased.
Nathan Schemansky posted images taken by a buddy to Fb exhibiting what gave the impression to be a giraffe being transported within the mattress of a pickup truck in Macomb County.
The images went viral after being shared by the Macomb County Scanner page.
The motive force of the truck was later recognized as Darren Wehner, who works at St. Clair Flats Taxidermy.
Wehner, an expert taxidermist and occasional huge recreation hunter, mentioned the giraffe had died naturally of outdated age at a zoo and he had been employed to protect the animal for show at a museum.
“My job is to protect them so you possibly can respect them ceaselessly. Some folks could discover it unusual or totally different, however to me, it is artwork,” he told Fox 2 Detroit.
He mentioned he was about 60 hours into the method of preserving the giraffe when the necessity arose to move his work to a second location.
