In 1943, a number of hundred Jewish fighters rose up in opposition to the German military because it started its ultimate push to erase all traces of Jewish life within the Polish capital of Warsaw.
The 63-day rebel was organised by the Polish resistance to liberate town from Nazi occupation.
Presidents and Holocaust survivors and their descendants are commemorating the eightieth anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Rebellion on Wednesday.
