In collaboration with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Company (TİKA) and the Senegalese Ministry of Justice, two fashionable greenhouses have been established on the grounds of Sebikotane Jail to assist coaching and rehabilitation efforts. These services allow inmates to amass greenhouse cultivation expertise whereas serving their sentences.
The venture, carried out in partnership with the Nationwide College of Penitentiary Administration underneath the Senegalese Ministry of Justice, options two greenhouses, every spanning 2,500 sq. meters. Situated inside Sebikotane Jail and supervised by the Dakar Regional Jail authority, the initiative gives inmates with an opportunity to develop skilled expertise and embark on a path towards a contemporary begin.
As a part of the venture, a drip irrigation system was put in throughout a 5,000-square-meter greenhouse space. Moreover, vegetable seeds, fruit seedlings, fertilizers, humus soil, and numerous agricultural instruments have been offered, making certain the mandatory infrastructure for manufacturing.
A good portion of the greens cultivated within the greenhouse established by TİKA will likely be allotted for inmates’ consumption, whereas the excess will likely be offered. The income generated from these gross sales will likely be utilized by the jail administration to assist prisoner rehabilitation packages.
