Two-time Grand Slam doubles champion Max Purcell has been provisionally suspended after admitting a breach of anti-doping guidelines.
The 26-year-old has taken a voluntary suspension after admitting breaking Worldwide Tennis Integrity Company (ITIA) anti-doping guidelines regarding the “use of a prohibited technique”.
The Australian, who gained the 2022 Wimbledon doubles championship alongside Matthew Ebden, is now provisionally banned from enjoying in, teaching at or attending any tennis occasion.
The ITIA didn’t element the size of Purcell’s ban but it surely was efficient as of 12 December 2024.
“Time served underneath provisional suspension might be credited in opposition to any future sanction,” the ITIA stated
The provisional suspension may rule Purcell out of January’s Australian Open in Melbourne, which begins on 12 January.
