Turkey’s battle for the presidency appears set to go to a run-off, with each contenders adamant they’ve victory of their grasp.
Turkey’s Supreme Election Council says Erdogan is on 49.49% of the vote, together with his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu on 44.79%, with almost all of the votes counted.
If neither man secures 50%, there will likely be a second ballot in two weeks’ time.
This election comes at a vital time for the nation, which is battling excessive inflation and not too long ago suffered devastating earthquakes.
