To the editor: In addition to fueling local weather change, how about exacerbating drought? Plenty of water went into rising the meals that Individuals discard after Thanksgiving. (“Americans will throw out 316 million pounds of food on Thanksgiving. Here’s how it fuels climate change,” Nov. 26)
In terms of meals waste, our lawmakers ought to tackle the thousands and thousands of kilos of meals discarded by supermarkets. Produce and meat shows are always saved pristine; something that doesn’t look good is usually discarded. The much less meals that we have to develop, the much less water we use to develop it.
And the way about airways serving meals? Further meals are provisioned on flights and discarded after touchdown. Whether or not you need it or not, a roll with butter is given. The cows offering the milk for that butter are a significant supply of methane emissions.
