To the editor: I used to be unhappy to be taught that we received’t have extra of Washington columnist David Lauter’s nice writing in The Instances. (“Biggest lesson from my four decades of covering politics: Prepare to be surprised,” column, Nov. 23)
Once I noticed his work, I all the time learn it and grew to adore it. His items have been lucid, informative and good-hearted — stellar as columnist Steve Lopez’s work, however totally different.
I want Lauter an extended, joyful retirement.
