To the editor: As a decades-long subscriber to The Instances, I’m used to the far-left opinion items it publishes. Nevertheless, the column by Mark Barabak, “Trump wins and it’s a dark night for America’s soul,” goes too far.
That is the primary time in three election cycles that I truly voted for President-elect Trump, as a result of I feared a Kamala Harris presidency greater than him.
The left has solely President Biden responsible. If he had stayed the course and ruled because the one-term president he strongly prompt he’d be, the Democrats probably would have discovered a greater candidate to run in opposition to Trump. As an alternative of lauding Biden for selecting to “move the torch” when he did, we must always blame him and his social gathering for leaving us with a Hobson’s alternative between Harris and Trump.
That mentioned, the individuals have spoken, and Trump is our president once more.

To the editor: The Instances’ editorial board states in its post-election piece, “His victory has us wrestling with the query of how two such starkly totally different visions of the US coexist.”
This sentence epitomizes the problem that so many in America have with a lot of the mainstream media. The Instances nonetheless doesn’t get it — and so long as it retains having solely liberal editorial board members, it by no means will.

To the editor: My very younger Irish dad and mom have been on a film date in England the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese navy. Midway by the film it was abruptly stopped and the theater supervisor introduced that the U.S. was getting into the conflict.
The viewers stood and cheered — not due to the assault, however as a result of with Adolf Hitler’s forces at England’s doorstep, they desperately wanted U.S. assist.
When my dad and mom moved to California after the conflict, I keep in mind each of them telling us that America saved Europe. I’m glad that they don’t seem to be right here now to appreciate that Europe and our different allies can’t get pleasure from that comforting perception in the present day.

To the editor: Now aged 102 and a World Struggle II destroyer sailor, I held my nostril and voted for Harris, a extremely weak candidate.
Calling Trump’s victory a retreat to the Darkish Ages is ridiculous.
