The US expressed hope for renewed dialogue with North Korea by way of Swedish diplomats. Sweden resumed its mission in Pyongyang on September 13 after a COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. Swedish diplomats needed to depart Pyongyang when North Korea closed its borders in 2020. The US State Division Spokesman Matthew Miller mentioned, “We assist the return of overseas diplomats to Pyongyang and hope that it’s going to reinvigorate dialogue, diplomacy, and different types of constructive engagement with the DPRK.”
