WASHINGTON: The person accused of staking out Donald Trump’s Florida golf course with a rifle was indicted on Tuesday on a cost of tried assassination of a politician, federal prosecutors mentioned.
Ryan Routh, 58, was already going through two gun-related expenses after authorities mentioned he pointed a rifle by a fence at Trump’s golf membership in West Palm Seashore, Florida on Sep 15 whereas the Republican presidential candidate was {golfing} there.
He has been ordered to stay in jail to await trial.
“The Justice Division won’t tolerate violence that strikes on the coronary heart of our democracy, and we’ll discover and maintain accountable those that perpetrate it. This should cease,” Lawyer Normal Merrick Garland mentioned in an announcement.
The Division of Justice mentioned a federal grand jury in Miami returned the indictment late Tuesday afternoon.
The tried assassination cost carries a most sentence of life in jail.
The case has been assigned to US District Decide Aileen Cannon, who dismissed a felony case in July accusing Trump of illegally protecting labeled paperwork after leaving workplace.
Routh has not but entered a plea. His attorneys unsuccessfully sought to have him launched on bond.
