To the editor: Does a presidential candidate’s character nonetheless matter to voters in America? What if we modified the main focus of the Sept. 10 presidential debate from the “common” number of essential points to only one — the character of every candidate?
I’ve an “exterior the field” suggestion: Overlook debating the same old points and focus completely on every candidate’s character traits. I believe this strategy would offer a possibility for the American individuals to find who former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris actually are.
So, what would a dialogue on the ethical character of every candidate appear like? The moderator may contemplate addressing honesty, integrity, compassion and even the Golden Rule. A number of examples of attainable inquiries to ask every of the candidates is likely to be:
When have you ever made or admitted a mistake? What did you do to right it? When have you ever felt unhealthy about your habits? When have you ever apologized? When are you emotional? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What’s essential to you? When have you ever performed an act of kindness?
Discuss your religion. Discuss your listening abilities, particularly once you disagree with somebody. Discuss loving your neighbor and the way you could have proven concern for a stranger. What makes you unhappy? What humbles you?
If any such “debate” had been to occur, it might be an eye fixed opener for many people.

To the editor: I want the company media (together with yourselves) would cease referring to those political smack-downs as “debates.”
Actual debates could be held at academia-based debate societies with out audiences, with impartial moderators who current propositions for the debaters to touch upon and assist with goal details and knowledge, adopted instantly by scoring by a group of unbiased judges.
Calling these actuality exhibits “debates” quantities to journalistic malpractice.
