An Alaska Airways flight diverted to Portland, Oregon, Sunday after an off-duty pilot within the cockpit unsuccessfully tried to close down the airplane’s engines midflight, in accordance with officers. The suspect, Joseph Emerson, was taken into custody by police and charged with tried homicide after the airplane landed safely at Portland’s airport, officers confirmed to CBS Information.
