Officers in Nova Scotia are investigating an unconfirmed report of a bear attack on a Halifax-area path.
The Division of Pure Sources and Renewables (DNRR) closed a piece of the Shearwater Flyer path, which is widespread for hikers and cyclists, from Bisset Street to Caldwell Street. The path winds via the communities of Cole Harbour and Japanese Passage.

“Out of an abundance of warning, workers will probably be setting some stay traps. Any bears caught will probably be checked for proof,” wrote DNRR spokesperson Erin Lynch in an e-mail.
“If there are none discovered on the bear, it is going to be launched.”
