The Democratic Republic of Congo has been going through political instability and armed violence since 1996, with an estimated six million folks killed for the reason that battle started.
In March 2022 the M23 armed group launched a brand new offensive and seized territory in jap DRC, displacing greater than 1,000,000 folks. Based on a Human Rights Watch report, the M23 allegedly executed scores of villagers and militia members between November 2022 and April 2023, burying them in mass graves within the village of Kishishe, North Kivu.
The report says that M23 has dedicated illegal killings, rape, and different struggle crimes since late 2022, exacerbating the dire humanitarian disaster within the nation. 171 civilians have been executed within the final ten days of November alone, based on the UN’s human rights workplace.
